Since 2012, the Dean of Students office has been piloting free, 90 minute Personal Safety Education PSE workshops. There are two remaining sessions available in Winter Term 2013 for the U-M community: April 2 and April 16, from 3:30-5:00 pm in room 3060 of the Central Campus Recreation Building. Sign up here for Activity # 310239.  Register now to ensure space is available.

Tamara Williams Memorial Lecture set for March 28

Dr. Tricia Bent-Goodley

Tamara Williams was a University of Michigan student and Family Housing resident when she was killed by her boyfriend in 1997. The annual lecture is meant to commemorate her life, raise awareness of domestic and dating violence, and increase interest in their prevention.

February Fireside Chat

On February 5th, University President, Mary Sue Coleman, and Vice President for Student Affairs, Royster Harper, hosted the 1st Fireside Chat of the Winter 2013 semester.

Here is a transcript of the dialogue between them and the students. They address student concerns and daily life at Michigan and some students ask the President and Vice President about their times at Michigan and abroad.

Topics discussed this month were: better connecting North and Central Campus, undergraduate child care, African American male athlete graduation rates, campus safety, and more.

"I Will" Campaign Addresses Sexual Assault

The I Will campaign is an entirely student-led initiative to start a campus-wide conversation surrounding sexual assault. Launched at U-M, "I Will" is working to end sexual violence at college campuses across the nation.
