Identity & Justice

Smiling U-M students

Diversity is a defining element of the University community. We work hard to maintain a respectful and accepting environment, where we value and learn from everyone’s perspective and life experiences.

A big part of that commitment involves recognizing everyone’s unique social identity. Social identities can be defined in many ways, by race, sexual orientation, ethnicity, gender identity or expression, disability, class, and religion, among many other characteristics.  The Division respects and honors diversity.  We want to make Michigan a diverse campus, where everyone feels safe and welcome.
