DSA Advisory Board
Purpose
The DSA Advisory Board’s purpose is to provide advice on pressing student issues to the Vice President for Student Affairs. Biweekly meetings throughout the academic year encourage discussion on new initiatives and emergent issues. The Board’s recommendations help to influence DSA goals, services, and overall effectiveness.
Composition
- The Board is composed of a diverse group of both undergraduate and graduate students. All students on the Board are selected through an application and interview process.
- The Vice President for Student Affairs and the DSA Staff liaison to the board will be present at the Orientation Retreat and all subsequent meetings.
- Additional individuals from across the University may attend as invited guests.
Organization
- One year renewable terms (September- August).
- Every year the Board will have a mandatory Orientation Retreat in September. The 2013 retreat will be held on September 21-22. Topics which students would like to address over the course of the year will be discussed at that retreat.
- Meetings will occur every two weeks on Wednesday evenings from 7-9 PM, the first one taking place the week after the Orientation Retreat. Meetings run from October-April (pending schedule).
- Regular participation in the Board’s activities will be essential if it is to be effective. Therefore, if an individual misses more than two meetings, s/he may be dismissed from the Board.
- Minutes from meetings will be posted on the CTools website for members to view, including any presentations or proposals presented to the group.
Application Process
- Applications are due no later than Monday, March 18th by 5 p.m.
- Interviews will take place that Friday (3/22) and into the followng week.
- Final decisions will be made by a student/staff committee, and applicants will be informed via emal within a week of the final interview.
